Brainstorming and Group For Project

Image
Group and Ideas Brainstormed After not much consideration I choose to work alone on this project as I think it will be more efficient for me. When working on an assignment I usually work at a pace I find comfortable to the work being done from the point the work is assigned and from when it's due. From past experience as working in groups i've gathered that it's harder to complete work when people usually work at different paces and with such a long project I'd like to not have to worry about work getting done and this also allows me to focus solely on my ideas that I have(basically be my own creative director). Speaking of ideas, ever since we got word of the project at the start of school i've had the thought of making a movie opener centered around a character (likely myself) and portray them in a dark but not evil or bright but not necessarily good manor. These themes are polar opposites which makes it harder to choose between and even harder to combine them i...

Mood Board Project

Image
Death is Forever After learning what mood boards are I have been set the task to create one myself. I've decided to center my mood board around the horror genre with the theme being centered around death. To specify the broad theme about death my theme is how death is forever and is impossible to reverse. Now seeing as it is a movie it's possible many views can be takin on this topic despite my attempt for them to view it in a certain way but I hope with this movie can be centered around the dark topic of death while still being centered on the more in depth theme I've decided on. This theme has caught my interest after my many times seeing characters in movies trying to interact with spirits of dead people. The idea of people grieving so much they would do anything to resurrect the ones they love is very interesting and I believe that portraying the worst outcome of that idea would be even more interesting. Having one try to bargain to resurrect the ones they love after ...

Sound Project

Sound, or the lack of it can add so much to a scene of a film. Sound can amplify feelings felt in the scene as well as help the viewer get a better understanding of the scene and it's purpose in a story. This is also applies to the lack of sound as no sound can cast certain views, give perspectives, create the atmosphere for a scene etc. All forms of sound whether it be diegetic, non-diegetic, part of the soundtrack, background music, ambient noise, etc., play important roles of giving the scenes they're used in a more purposeful meaning. It wasn't difficult to come up with sound ideas for a story with no visuals as sounds are a essential part to portraying a scene so coming up with the sounds of a story naturally came to mind as we imagined the story unfolding. Once figuring out the different parts of the story it was easy to imagine the sounds that could be used to portray the scene. I think we were able to create a sound story that the audience would be able to understa...

James Metts Over The Shoulder High Angle POV Shot Salvador Clemente Close Up Extreme Close-Up For my camera shot comments I decided to choose these 2 students to review their camera shots. From what I can gather from the images shown they used appropriate camera shots and angles when it came down to describing them. As for the shots themselves, all them portray the image they were trying to capture in these shots very well. For example in James's over the shoulder helps just capture a good view of him while we look at the other persons back, this allows us to focus on just him at the moment compared to the other person. Or how in Salvador's extreme close up it captures a close, detailed view of her eyes. Overall I liked both of their shots and from what I can tell they did a very well job at portraying a certain idea through just 1 shot. These shots show that both of them have a good understanding of some of the many camera shots/angles and they both know how to use them to p...

Personal Camera Shots & Angles

Image
Over the past week... I have spent much time dedicated to learning the many camera angles and shots that are displayed in film when recording. Some of these include Wide/Mid/Close Shots, Aerial Shots, Single/Two/Three/etc. shots, high/low angles, the list goes on. I even analyzed some of these shots in certain movie clips I found the I even made a blog post about. After all this time spent learning the many shots and angles(S&A) I started to apply the knowledge and take pictures using these S&A.  As seen in the many shots taken by me and my partner we both used our knowledge of S&A to create photos using them. For example in the first picture we were able to capture a over the shoulder/ots shot capturing his back to the camera and my face over his shoulder. Or how we captured a two shot in the second with me and him both in the same frame. Even how in the third image I captured my partner at a high angle. We took more photos including other S&A but that’s a bit much...

Camera Shots & Angles

In this Blog I will look at 5 different clips of movies and analyze the camera shots/angles and how they portray characters. https://youtu.be/QuI9mDJdKgs?si=sDKiu2M5j6bfsX9u In this clip from Spider-Man Into the Spider Verse, Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy are seen sitting on a upside down part of a building. This clip demonstrates the use of a two shot showing the two characters and their seemingly close relationship as they sit close together. Its also taken at an eye level angle. https://youtu.be/YXUMkatJ600?si=JvwXlMAiOkWAWmow This clip of Despicable Me 2 portrays Gru entering a cupcake shot and being surprised by Lucy. This scene while at first uses mostly single shots to portray Gru and Lucy it eventually switches to using a OTS...
